Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood used to insert cocaine into their anuses because guitarist Ronnie was fed up with the damage being done to his nose.

The former Faces bandmates were both previously cocaine users, but when Ronnie burned a hole through his nasal septum from taking the illegal substance, the pair decided to take the drug in a more unconventional way.

Stewart told Access Hollywood: “As far as the drugs are concerned, I was never an addict. I was never, you know, in rehab. It never affected my family or my relationships or anything. I was just a social user.

“(But what happened to Ronnie) scared him, so then we found another method of taking the drug. We put them in a little pill like the French do them, [a] suppository. We did that for a little while.”

While he wasn’t addicted to cocaine, Stewart recently confessed he became reliant on steroids after he started to lose his voice.

He said: “As the 80s wore into the 90s, I faced an increasing struggle with my voice. More and more shows had to be wiped out.

“It got to the point where I was virtually uninsurable. I’d walk around feeling as though I’d been gargling barbed wire. I started taking steroids; Prednisone tablets, to be precise, and soon I was well on my way to developing an addiction.

“By March 1991, I’d graduated to a cocktail of drugs in a syringe which I’d inject before a show, normally into my hand.”
