Victoria Beckham reckons the clothes she designs – prices start at £650 – will help women beat the credit crunch.

Before we all shout “Let them eat cake!” it’s only fair to hear the Posh Spice explanation: “In these recessionary times, and at these prices, women are looking for something that will be an investment,” she told The Times. That settles it then.
Among the ideas Victoria has for her new range – on sale at Selfridges from tomorrow, 3 December – is for a dress that works well in the toilet.
“I wanted a zip that undoes from both ends because then you can either put the dress on over your head or step into it – and also, you know, going to the loo wouldn’t be this whole big palaver,” she said.
It looks like it’s a palaver-concern shared by her Spice Girl band mate Geri Halliwel, whose bum-showing dress at the Children’s BAFTA Awards the other night would probably be even simpler to use on the lav than Posh’s frocks.
