The 18-year-old hotel heir – who was arrested on February 12 in Malibu after his black Mercedes was spotted “weaving” along the Pacific Coast Highway – was charged with four misdemeanour counts at the Los Angeles’ District Attorney’s Office.

Barron’s arraignment – for the charges of driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI), driving with a blood alcohol level of higher than the legal .08 per cent, unlawful use of a license and unlicensed driving – is set for April 14.

He will face a maximum penalty of six months in jail for each count. When police arrived on the scene in February, they found Barron’s blood alcohol level tested at .14 per cent. They also found he was using a fake ID as his driving license.

Following his arrest, Barron reportedly phoned sister Paris for help, but she refused to post his bail, deciding the time in prison would teach him a lesson.

Paris spent time in jail herself for violating her probation stemming from driving under the influence of alcohol in September 2006.
