The band will team up with the 50-strong Crouch End Festival Chorus to perform at North London’s Roundhouse venue as part of the BBC Electric Proms event on 26 October.

Explaining what fans can expect from the show, guitarist Noel Gallagher said: “We’ll have the choir on more than one song, but I’m not sure what yet, we’ve only had one meeting.

“It’s quite a long show for us, about two hours, we normally do an hour and 40 minutes.”

Noel also revealed the band’s set list will be heavily influenced by his brother, frontman Liam Gallagher. He joked: “We’ll stick most of the hits in, but not D’You Know What I Mean? because Liam doesn’t like it. We won’t play She’s Electric because Liam doesn’t like it. We won’t play Roll With It because Liam doesn’t like it.

“I could sing them, I’m a brilliant singer but it’s not really my place.”

Noel added he would love to collaborate with music legend Burt Bacharach at the event, because he enjoyed performing with him before.

He told BBC Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles: “Burt Bacharach will be good, I played with him before in 1995. We were in this Los Angeles hotel and he happened to wander in.

“We were chatting away because his face is on the cover of Definitely Maybe and he said he was looking for guest singers for his UK show, his first in about 30 years. So I said, ‘Who’s doing This Guy’s In Love With You? and he said, ‘Will you do it?’

“We were well into a three-day drinking session so I didn’t take him seriously until we got back to London and he called me to go for a rehearsal with the choir and orchestra. It’s the only time I’ve ever sung without a guitar, it was weird.

“I’ll do it again this time, absolutely.”
