Mark Ronson gave a moving musical tribute to his late muse Amy Winehouse at his Greenwich Summer Sessions show last night (27.07.11).

Ronson’s set came just a day after he attended the singer’s funeral in north London.
The eclectic producer had worked with Amy – who died suddenly on Saturday (23.07.11), – on her biggest hits, including ‘Rehab’ and her career-defining second album, ‘Back to Black’. He opened his set with the Zuton’s song ‘Valerie’, a song Amy covered for his ‘Version’ album.
After the opening track, sung by original singer Dave McCabe, Mark said: “It’s been a s**t week and it’s great coming out to play to you guys, that’s the great thing about music.”
Partway through his set, Mark – performing his first show under his Mark Ronson & The Business Intl alias since Amy’s death – also played ‘Rehab’, after which he told the crowd: “If you love Amy and her music make sure you clap your hands right now.”
“I went to her service yesterday and a Rabbi said, ‘A person’s life is measured in deeds, not years’, hers was pretty f***ing special.”
“I’m not getting emotional or morbid but it’s nice to share this moment with people who appreciate good music.”
“Amy Winehouse was a genius and has made more brilliant music than I’ll ever make”.
After his main set, Mark then invited Charlie Waller of The Rumble Strips to the stage for an encore of Amy’s ‘Back to Black’, before ending the night with another version of ‘Valerie’ – this time sung by Amy’s two backing singers, who had toured with her since she achieved global fame in 2006.
