A leaked government report reveals the singer, who is married to film director Guy Ritchie, has been deemed a confident and able parent by Malawi adoption officials.

According to In Touch Weekly magazine, a Malawi government official writes: “Mrs. Ritchie presents a confident and able parent. There are clear indications that David is becoming a happy, secure toddler. It is in the best interest of the child to remain in her care.”

The 49-year-old singer – who has an 11-year-old daughter Lourdes from her relationship with her personal trainer Carlos Leon, and a seven-year-old son Rocco with Guy – filed adoption papers for two-year-old David on 10 October 2006.

She was granted temporary foster care and flew David back to Britain, where she lives in London with her family, on 16 October. In September, Madonna was visited by Malawi adoption officials who filed a report as to whether she should be allowed to formerly adopt David.

Madonna is now reportedly planning to adopt a daughter from Malawi.
