Lenny Kravitz is reportedly set to become the new frontman for US rockers Velvet Revolver.

Lenny, 44, has been spotted in the studio with the band – which features former Guns ‘n’ Roses guitarist Slash – who have been looking for a high profile replacement to appear on their new record since parting company with original singer Scott Weiland in April.

A source close to the band told The Sun: “Velvet Revolver’s new album will draw heavily on their messy split with Scott. The band wanted a big name who could easily hold his own and reckon Lenny is just the man for the job.”

Other singers linked to the frontman position include former Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar and Liv Tyler’s husband, former Spacehog star Royston Langdon.

Speaking at the time of the band’s split from Scott, Slash said: “This band is all about its fans and its music and Scott Weiland isn’t 100 per cent committed to either. Among other things, his increasingly erratic onstage behaviour and personal problems have forced us to move on.”
