The legendary band’s much anticipated performance at The O2 arena has now been pushed back from 26 November to 10 December to give the 63-year-old musician’s injury time to heal following an accident last weekend.

Page said: “I’m disappointed, but we feel that this postponement will enable my injury to heal and perform at the level that both the band and our fans have always been accustomed to.”

Led Zeppelin – made up of Page, lead singer Robert Plant and bassist Paul Jones – last took the stage 12 years ago for their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Ohio.

When the reunion concert was announced in September, the ticket website repeatedly crashed as millions of fans scrambled for tickets.

Page recently claimed the band could be set to release their first album of new material since 1979’s In Through the Out Door.

He said: “I would be really surprised if there wasn’t a new album around the corner.

“I just know the way we were. We’re musicians, as we’re playing we’ll probably come up with all manner of things.”

If the band decide to release a new LP, it will be their first without drummer John Bonham, whose death in 1980 caused the band to split.

All tickets bought for 26 November will be valid for the rescheduled performance.
