Kylie Minogue was left red-faced at yesterday’s Q Awards (08.10.07) after she was refused entry.

The superstar singer, who scooped The Q Idol award at the prestigious ceremony, happily posed for photographs with Kaiser Chiefs singer Ricky Wilson as she entered London’s Grosvenor House Hotel before attempting to
make her way inside.

However, organisers called Kylie back to the front desk telling her she couldn’t enter without a wristband.

The bemused star began to make her way back to the desk, asking: “Sorry, do I need a wristband?”

However, Ricky quickly came to the star’s aid telling the fussy staff: “She’s Kylie Minogue, she doesn’t need a wristband!”

Before their impromptu photo shoot, Ricky had gushed over Kylie – who looked stunning in a figure-hugging black dress, saying: “Hi, it’s so good to meet you. You look great, let’s have a picture.”

Later in the afternoon, Kylie was presented her accolade by British comic stars Justin Lee Collins and Alan Carr and seemed thrilled to be honoured.

During her acceptance speech, she said: “Don’t ask me what it means but I am very grateful and honoured to be receiving it, so thanks to Q.

“I would like to thank everyone who continues to support me, including my dress! So thanks very much.”

Earlier in the afternoon, former Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown slammed Kylie, insisting she didn’t deserve to win a prize.

The singer – who was honoured with The Q Legend award – said: “I don’t understand why Kylie Minogue is getting an award. She only makes music for children. Will you please keep this ceremony for proper musicians and grown-ups and not for people who shouldn’t be here. I don’t dislike her, I just don’t see why she should be getting an award.”
