The black Pontiac Trans Am talking car was driven by David Hasselhoff in the Knight Rider hit US show and 1984 TV film.

KITT – which stood for Knight Industries Three Thousand – is being sold in California via online auction website, eBay. The auction ends today (17.06.08).

Current bidding lists the vehicle at just UKP20,600 at the time of writing, though the price is expected to soar in the final minutes of the auction.

The listing reads: “David Hasselhoff played Michael Knight opposite the real star, KITT. KITT was a 300mph, high tech, self aware communicative, man-made marvel, designed to aid and protect Michael Knight. Together with his human co-star, KITT fought for justice across America.”

KITT featured a computerised voice, represented by flashing red lights, and a ‘futuristic’ interior design. It bears the number plate ‘Knight’.

The KITT model being auctioned was most recently used in the third and fourth series of ‘Knight Rider’ as well as the TV film. It was also used in 2006 film The Benchwarmers which starred Rob Schneider.
