Katy Perry turned down the chance to stand in for Kelly Rowland on last weekend’s X Factor.

“I just didn’t have time,” the Last Friday Night hitmaker told Real Radio, adding that she “might have felt out of the loop” on the talent show.

“I wouldn’t want to be an unfair critic by not knowing the artists’ history,” said Perry, who appeared as a guest judge at the audition stages of last year’s show.

With Rowland off sick all week, eliminated contestant Sophie Habibis admitted it was “hard” not having her mentor’s support.

“It was obviously hard not having her there but I just had to get on with it,” said Habibis.

“I was disappointed with my performance, but I don’t think that was anything to do with Kelly not being there. She was there in spirit and we were talking on the phone a lot.”
