The 33-year-old prankster – who is famous for starring in harebrained stunts on the MTV reality show and spin-off film Jackass: The Movie – was smashing holes in the wall of his home when a local resident detained him while he waited for police to arrive.

London-born Steve-O, real name Stephen Glover, was taken into custody at Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) Hollywood station, according to gossip website TMZ.com.

Steve-O had been having regular arguments with the neighbour, a lawyer, and has posted videos of the altercations on video sharing website youtube.com.

In his most recent blog on his official website, written on Sunday before the arrest, Steve-O wrote: “We are accountable for everything that we do, say, or even think, and all the activity we are responsible for is eternal, and waiting for us to answer to it- In the Fourth Dimension. Time. We are not in the Fourth Dimension yet, we don’t get there until we die.”

This isn’t the first time the 33-year-old stuntman has been in trouble with the law. In May 2003, he was arrested and jailed in Sweden for possession of ecstasy and marijuana. In July of the same year, he was arrested in Pennsylvania for disorderly conduct after urinating on potato chips during a music tour.
