Iggy Pop will perform a tribute to Madonna at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony next week (10.03.08).

The rocker and his band The Stooges – who opened for Madonna in Dublin, Ireland, on her Re-Invention Tour in 2004 – is scheduled to perform at the ceremony in New York’s Waldorf-Astoria Hotel before Justin Timberlake presents the Queen of Pop with her award.
Other performances at the ceremony will include Damien Rice, in a tribute to Leonard Cohen, James Cotton for Little Walter and Patti LaBelle for Gamble and Huff.
John Mellencamp, The Ventures and The Dave Clark Five will also play live on the night.
Speaking about her induction, Madonna said: “It’s to recognise 25 years of writing, producing and recording. That’s a long time to do a job well, I might add. So yeah, it’s a great sense of accomplishment!”
Madonna’s new album Hard Candy will be released worldwide in April, but the songstress admitted she is nervous about how it will be received by her fans.
She added: “I am very anxious and nervous and hopeful that people will like it.”
