The My Heart Will Go On singer, who has performed her A New Day show at Caesars Palace for nearly five years, wept several times during the concert and said the experience had a been a “wonderful adventure”.

Celine said: “It’s hard to believe that we’ve come to an end. It was a wonderful adventure. It was an emotional night. It was a wonderful adventure.”

The 39-year-old star, who has a six-year-old son René-Charles with husband René Angelil, revealed her family will always come before her music career.
She told the audience: “It’s a pleasure to perform for you, but I’m extremely passionate to be a mother.

“I had a life for the first time. I wanted to be more successful as a mother than as a singer.”

Speaking of the bad reviews the show had received, the I’m Your Angel star admitted: “At one point, I felt like the Titanic was about to sink again. But we believed and we went on with it.”

After the Canadian pop star performed her final song, her husband and son joined her on stage as rose petals rained down from the ceiling.

Since Celine’s show opened in March 2003, A New Day has grossed more than USD400 million. Bette Midler will take Celine’s residency at Caesars Palace. The Showgirl Must Go On opens at the hotel on 20 February. Celine is set to embark on a world tour in February 2008.

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes attended Celine’s penultimate show on Friday (14.12.07). The couple, who gave the star a standing ovation at the end of her performance, later went backstage to meet Celine.

A source said: “Tom and Katie walked in before the show started and the crowd went crazy. Tom waved to the crowd and signed numerous autographs.”

Tom and Katie, who spent two days in Las Vegas, also enjoyed a romantic dinner at the SW Steakhouse at the Wynn on Friday. They ate crab claws, Kobe beef, French fries and diet soda and were very “loved up” according to onlookers.

On Thursday (13.12.07), the couple dined at the Hard Rock Hotel’s Nobu restaurant. One source said: “Tom and Katie were really friendly and said hello to every guest who approached them.”
