Guerrilla, which stars Del Toro and was directed by Soderbergh, premiered at the Toronto film festival last week and the pair were reportedly up until 4.30am at eco-friendly club Greenhouse to celebrate.
A source told the New York Post: “Dinner started at 9pm, and by 12:30am Benicio and Steven had 12 girls visit the VIP room where they were staying. The dancers were pouring 360 Vodka shots in their mouths while giving them the lap dances.”
Del Toro – who plays Argentine Marxist revolutionary Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevara in the four-hour biopic – enjoyed a cigar on the club’s patio before joining the rest of the VIPs for a South American themed dinner.
Earlier in the evening at the premiere on September 10, Del Toro talked about how his inspiration for the role.
Del Toro said: “I remember being in an airport in Buenos Aires and someone said, ‘Oh, a Che Guevara movie. It’s great!’ and we hadn’t even shot anything. I don’t think we even had a script.
“So the movie was taking over in a way. We had to find a way to do it. So in a way, the movie kind of like was already in motion before we even stepped on the gas. That added pressure to it.”
Guerrilla, which will be called Che for its US release, is split into two parts, the first of which can be seen early next year.
