Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz have confirmed they are engaged.

Ashlee, who has been dating the Fall Out Boy rocker since 2006, revealed she was “thrilled” when Pete proposed to her and she can’t wait to get married.
She said yesterday: “We know there has been a lot of speculation recently about Pete and I, and we wanted our fans to be the first to know, because you guys are the best. “Yes, we are thrilled to share that we are happily engaged. Thank you for all of your support and well wishes – it means the world to us. We consider this to be a very private matter, and we wanted to be the first to tell you and to hear it straight from us.”
It has been claimed the couple are planning to wed later this year.
Ashlee’s father Joe Simpson is delighted by the news, adding: “I am totally happy and so excited to have Pete as part of our family. We are blessed.”
Engagement rumours were first sparked in February when Ashlee – the younger sister of singer-and-actress Jessica Simpson – was seen wearing a diamond ring on her engagement finger.
The 23-year-old star denied she was engaged, but revealed: “This on my finger is a promise ring. It just means that he hasn’t asked my dad yet!”
