Amy Winehouse went into rehab last night after being given an ultimatum by her record company.

The troubled singer – who was seen in video footage smoking what appeared to be crack cocaine earlier this week – was reportedly told by Universal Records boss Lucian Grainge to “get help or forget your career”.

A Universal insider said: “Everyone has had rehab plans in place for her but were waiting until she decided to get help.

Universal boss Lucian Grainge told her it was time to sort herself out. “He said she wouldn’t be going to the Grammy Awards, the BRITs or even releasing another album until she did so.”

A statement from her record company confirmed yesterday: “Amy decided to enter the facility today after talks with her record label, management and doctors. She has come to understand that she requires specialist treatment to continue her ongoing recovery from drug addition and prepare for her upcoming appearance at the Grammy Awards. Amy entered the facility by mutual
agreement and continues to receive the full support of all concerned.”

Amy, 24, was accompanied to London’s Capio Nightingale Clinic in Marylebone by her father Mitch, and looked confused and scared in a black top and miniskirt as she was led into the facility.

Amy is expected to be well enough to perform at the Grammys in Los Angeles’ Staples Center on February 10.
