Amy Winehouse has been granted a visa to work in the US.

The Rehab singer was given permission to perform in the country after being questioned in a formal interview at the American Embassy on Grosvenor Square.

Amy had previously been refused entry to the US after she, husband Blake Fielder-Civil and stylist Alex Foden were fined for possession of marijuana in Norway during her European tour last month.

A source said: “Amy is delighted. She made a real effort to look good and come across well in her interview because she really wanted to make a good impression.

“She’s desperate to be able to tour the US, and there’s even been talk of her and her and Blake looking for a house in Miami.”

Amy originally accepted a fine of USD714 when arrested by Norwegian police. Last week, her lawyer Oleg Kvelstad revealed she was appealing the decision because she had not realised accepting the fine was the same as pleading guilty.

It is not yet known whether the decision to grant Amy a visa means she will perform at tomorrow’s (08.11.07) mtvU Woodie Awards in New York.

She had originally signed up to appear at the ceremony, but was forced to cancel after her arrest.
