2nd April sees Intel and Future kick off a search to find the Digital Artist of the Year in a brand new competition. Dedicated to exploring the power of technology, the launch of Digital Artist 2009 sees Intel celebrating the work of the digital art community and inviting artists to submit their work in a battle to win the inaugural competition title.

Digital Artist 2009 aims to inspire, recognise and reward the highest standards of digital art across a range of 13 categories. The Intel Rising Star Awards is one category which will reward the best new talent in digital art and design. With five Rising Star awards up for grabs, this category will honour the most innovative work across any digital creative discipline for entrants under the age of 25.

www.digitalartistawards.com will welcome competition entries from 2nd April until 31st August. The dedicated website will also showcase news, advice and debates around digital art concepts. From April to September, leading experts in the digital art field will lead intimate masterclasses for the public teaching specialist techniques which explore selected categories from Digital Artist 2009. These classes will be held in various cities across the UK and will happen monthly aiming to both educate the beginner and develop the techniques of the more experienced artist.

The exclusive launch of Digital Artist 2009 will take place at La Galleria, Pall Mall on 1st April followed by a week-long exhibition which will showcase the diverse elements of the digital art world. The exhibition will be open to the public from the 2nd April – 8th April.
