Wimbledon Common

The Commons consist of woodland, scrubland, heathland, and grassy recreation areas. There are also nine ponds that are home to a wide variety of birds, animals and plant life. A windmill stands near the centre of Wimbledon common and is now home to a small yet neat windmill museum with wonderful models and milling demonstrations. The Common was also home to the Wombles, heroes of the 1970s children’s TV characters.
