Five friends - Ash, Shelly, Linda, Cheryl and Scotty - decide to spend a weekend in a remote log cabin in the woods. Upon arrival, the group discovers an ancient book filled with archaic writing, apparently in blood. When the words inside are read aloud, an evil spirit is invoked, which systematically possesses and kills the terrified chums. Thankfully, Ash has his wits, a chainsaw and a shovel to fend off the swirling darkness.
