Gerry and wife Stella relocated from Belfast to Glasgow more than 40 years ago to escape the aftermath of a violent incident during the Troubles. The couple seem content in their day-to-day rituals and for Christmas, Stella surprises her husband with a city break for two to the Netherlands. Initially, Gerry and Stella enjoy a sightseeing itinerary that allows them to sample Amsterdam's beauty at their own pace. However, the wife has an ulterior motive for gifting her husband the vacation.
