Successful screenwriter Martin is devoted to his actress daughter Sarah, whose mother Claire disappeared without trace many years ago after she humiliated Martin in public. During Sarah’s 25th birthday party, the screenwriter meets French sex bomb Angelique. The attraction is palpable but the next morning, police discover her lifeless body floating in a canal. Inspector Bullock suspects foul play and is keen to interview Martin and learn if he spent the night with the dead woman.
