Steve Butler and his work colleague Sue Thomason are employed by energy company Global Crosspower Solutions to persuade cash-strapped communities to sign lucrative leases that grant GCS the right to drill for natural gas. Residents of a close-knit Pennsylvania farming town put the GCS proposal to public vote and Steve’s confidence is shaken when high school science teacher Frank Yates and vociferous environmentalist Dustin Noble cast doubts on the safety of fracking.
