A documentary portrait of journalist and urban activist Jane Jacobs, who was born in Pennsylvania but moved to New York. She was passionate about the Big Apple and was vociferous in her criticism of powerful city planner Robert Moses, who was determined to redevelop many of the historic neighbourhoods. During the 1960s, she rebutted Moses’ plans for Greenwich Village, Little Italy and Soho, arguing the importance of preserving the history, culture and personality of districts for future generations.
