Jewish-Hungarian lawyer Sonson proudly recalls his role as a member of the anti-Nazi resistance in 1943. In flashback, he remembers how German forces marched into his village, directly leading to the death of his wife. Compelled to act, Sonson poses as an SS officer in order to liberate a group of female resistance fighters, who have been captured by the Germans. A young woman called Judith helps Sonson in his hour of need and together, they defy the invaders.
