Located about 80 kilometres north of Pyongyang and measuring 500 square kilometres, Camp 14 is a holding station for 40,000 political prisoners. Shin Dong-Huyk grew up in Camp 14 as the son of two prisoners and was forced into hard labour at the age of six-years-old. He escaped 17 years later with the help of an older prisoner.
