High school students Derrick, Cathy and Travis decide to plant a rumour as part of a class project, telling anyone who will listen that the notoriously chaste Naomi had sex with her boyfriend Beau at a recent party. Unfortunately, the gossip takes on a life of its own, and soon the hearsay has mutated into a claim that Beau raped Naomi while she was unconscious. Desperate to make amends, Cathy engineers a plan to prove Beau's innocence, but her cohorts are far less eager to get involved.
