Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves have named their newborn son Levi Alves McConaughey.

The Fool’s Gold actor and his 24-year-old model girlfriend – who welcomed their first child together on Monday (07.07.08) – decided on the name because of its religious significance.
Explaining that Levi is another name for the apostle Matthew in the Bible, Matthew told America’s OK! magazine: “Our son was born at 6.22pm, and this particular time represents my favourite verse in the book of Matthew in the Bible, ‘If thy eye be single, thy whole body will be full of light.'”
Matthew also said the couple decided on Alves for their son’s middle name because “we wanted to incorporate her family name as well.”
Meanwhile, Matthew’s brother Rooster has revealed his joy that the 38-year-old actor is father to a baby boy the first time round.
He told America’s People magazine: “It’s good to have a boy the first time around. You can get away with dropping them a couple times, and they’ll still be OK – you can’t really do that with a little girl!”
“He’s probably a bit tired right now, probably been sitting around that hospital just staring at the little guy. But Matthew is going to make one hell of a dad.”
