Kristina succeeds her father King Gustav II Adolf and officially takes up royal duties at 18. From an early age. Kristina has been a tomboy and she continues to dress in clothes usually reserved for men. She also pursues an affair with countess Ebba Sparre that sets tongues wagging. Enemies within the court begin to coalesce and when Kristina flagrantly ignores her adviser to advocate a peaceful conclusion to the Thirty Years’ War that has pitted Catholics against Protestants across Europe, the scene is set for her downfall.
