Murphy wakes on New Year's Day to take a telephone call from a middle-aged woman: it is the mother of his old flame Electra, who has vanished without trace. The matriarch is concerned about Electra's well being since she is a recovering drug addict. As the rain falls outside his bedroom window, Murphy reminisces about his passionate two years with Electra, which compelled him to explore the boundaries of his carnal desire in a haze of narcotics and alcohol.
