Romantic Drama 360 to Open London Film Festival.

360, starring Jude Law and Rachel Weisz, is to open the London Film Festival, it was announced today.

Directed by Fernando Meirelles, who also helmed The Constant Gardener - the festival's 2005 opener - 360 follows the romantic "options in life" taken by a succession of inter-connected couples around the 360 degrees of the world, from London to Rio de Janeiro and Denver.

As well as Law and Weisz, 360 stars Ben Foster and Anthony Hopkins.

"I am very honoured that 360, an intimate film that talks about our options in life, has been chosen to open the festival this year," said Meirelles.

Already an established filmmaker in his native Brazil, Meirelles shot to international fame with 2002's City of God, set in Rio's notorious favelas.

"'I'm delighted that 360 will be our opening night film, and very pleased to welcome back Fernando Meirelles to the festival," said LFF artistic director Sandra Hebron.

"With its impeccable filmmaking credentials and intriguing premise, 360 combines masterful visual story-telling with a modern and moving narrative, helped by strong performances from a terrific ensemble cast."

The full programme for the 55th London Film Festival is unveiled in a fortnight, while the festival itself takes place between 12 and 27 October.
