In the run up to the release of their highly-anticipated new album ‘Battle For The Sun’, released June 8th, Placebo are pleased to announce a series of three warm-up shows and they are confirmed to play the following dates:

Saturday 9th May – Sheffield O2 Academy
Sunday 10th May – Bournemouth Opera House
Tuesday 12th May – London O2 Shepherds Bush Empire

Placebo are also set to return to the main stage of the Reading/Leeds Festivals this August as well as playing RockNess in Scotland on Sunday 14th June.

With a thirteen year history that takes in five studio albums, ten million album sales, breakdowns, clean ups and the dizzy swell of global success, ‘Battle For The Sun’ is Placebo’s first new album since the release of ‘Meds’ in 2006.

Recorded over three months by producer Dave Bottrill in his Toronto studio (chosen by the band largely because of his work with Tool) and mixed in London by My Bloody Valentine, Smashing Pumpkins and Nine Inch Nails supremo Alan Moulder, Placebo’s sixth album is a startling, alive, vital and boundary-vaulting record that marks a whole new era for a band.

“I believe ‘Battle’ to be the first of our albums to tell a story over the course of its 52 minutes,” explains Brian. “Our previous releases were really only collections of songs and even though the songs are ordered according to the musical flow, I hope that if you listen hard enough to the words that some kind of discernible thematic unity will begin to emerge.”

“I’m very optimistic about the future,” concludes Brian. “I’m in a positive frame of mind and a good head space. It’s very exciting. There’s a lot of life in the old dog just yet
