Jazz Preview: Clannad

Clannad
London Palladium, 9 March 2008

LondonNet previews Clannad’s 9 March 2008 show at the London Palladium featuring their unique blend of Irish ambient folk.

Clannad have sold over 10 million records in the past thirty-plus years with their haunting Irish melodies and musical versatility. Playing everything from jazz to folk to ambient to world music and singing in several languages – most notably Gaelic – the group have won BAFTA, Ivor Novella, and Grammy awards for their work.

In March, the original members of the group will reunite for a tour in the UK for the first time in 10 years. The tour will include a 9 March show at London’s Palladium.

With traditional Irish roots, the group first achieved mainstream success with 1982’s Theme from Harry’s Game. Since then, they have released ten studio albums, including two soundtracks, and collaborated with the likes of Bono. Not that they need the help.
