The Whitechapel Art Gallery was founded in 1901 to bring great art to the people of East London. The Gallery is internationally acclaimed for its exhibitions of modern and contemporary art and its pioneering education and public events programmes (- Whitechapel.org). Times: Tuesday - Sunday 11am - 6pm; Thursday 11am - 9pm; Closed Mondays. Admission: Free except for one paying exhibition/year (£7.50/4.50 concessions; Free for Whitechapel Members, Patrons and Associates).
