The Doctor shares a sneaky smooch with Clara (Jenna-Louise Coleman) as they take on a mysterious icy menace causing chaos in Victorian England in Doctor Who – The Snowmen.

Smith joked to The Sun: “I liked our kiss, it was fun, even though it was hell to do.”

Jenna-Louise added: “We did a couple of versions. One was like a swoop. Maybe it will be in some outtakes or something.”

The Christmas special episode is set in 1892 and sees the Time Lord thwarted by a gang of evil talking snowmen, who are all voiced by The Hobbit actor Sir Ian McKellen.

The show’s festive episode also stars Richard E. Grant in the role of Victorian misanthrope Dr. Simeon.

Fans will be treated to a revamped “wonderfully dramatic and striking” opening title sequence and a new interior design for the Doctor’s time-travelling vessel, the TARDIS.

The BBC revealed: “We can’t give too much away about the new-look titles except to say they are wonderfully dramatic and striking, with a couple of unexpected touches. In short, they’re a perfect way to welcome back the Doctor!”

Doctor Who – The Snowmen airs on BBC One on Christmas Day (25.12.12) at 5:15pm.
