Prince William buys hundreds of birds for Harry to shoot

That's the way they do birthdays in Royal-land
Prince William buys hundreds of birds for Harry to shoot.

Prince William is staging a shoot to mark his brother Prince Harry's birthday.

Harry turned 27 yesterday (15.09.11) and spent the day training at RAF Wattisham airfield but now plans to celebrate his big day at a later date thanks to his brother William, who has bought 250 pheasant, duck and partridge for a shoot at their grandmother Queen Elizabeth's Sandringham Estate.

A source told The Sun: "Harry is an exceptional marksman and both brothers love to shoot. William arranged this as something they can share."

Harry's army commitments means he may not get to enjoy the hunt until next year, but he is said to be planning a weekend of partying in London to celebrate his birthday instead after having to abstain from alcohol while flying military helicopters.

However, Harry is sure to make up for the alcohol ban later this year when he spends 48 hours in Las Vegas with his colleagues during a break from a 12-week helicopter training course in California and Arizona.

A source said: "It's traditional that guys on his course, which is split between California and Arizona, have a break in Vegas at the halfway point.

"The course doesn't have much downtime, it's pretty intense. This is a chance for pilots to let their hair down, kick back and enjoy themselves."

Just scrolling through the comments about 'animal cruelty' and 'disgusting blood sport' - i'm guessing none of you eat at local, country pubs where the results of such shoots end up in a lovely pie surrounded by gravy and mash. It's just part of the normal rural economy near me - and nothing to do with the 'rich'.

You are disgusting and down right evil. To not show respect for other species and do do what you plan on doing to these poor innocent creatures makes the so called royal family a royal murderer!

The people here in the US do the same I feel the very same about them, they are small uneducated and very evil to do such things. What is wrong with this family???

Those two idiot brothers will bring down the Royal family in Britain...

I just can't believe you people. And do all of you think by sitting here bitching about the boys and what they are doing, that it will have any effect whatsoever on anything? These hunt have been going on for 100s if not 1000s of years. And yes it's tradition. Diana may have been appauled at the thought but they are Charles' sons also.

Its call awareness. And yes it does change things. Apathy is for the boring.

This sickens me on all accounts. Shooting for fun? This is beyond sick and beneath human behavior......why not throw puppies up in the air? Same thing.......what bastards.

Since I was a young girl, I've read many articles about these Prince of Whales boys, and I was born in the same year of (1982) as Williams birth year. This close connection to Royal literature was awesome news to me, because of course, we were born in the same year. Yet, what throughs me off now is the killings of 250 birds, foxes, and other environmental animals. These cruel acts should be banned 4-ever in London by all-means by the power of God, and of legal good moral communities. Also, there are much higher authorities that can put a stop this injustice to those animals. I totally agree 110% plus to propose to rescue these Royal animals from execution of mass-murder's!( People want to hear good news about the Royal families, like in rescuing a cute animal, instead of being cruel among those that cannot shoot back. In America, hundred-thousands of people go to prison up to 5-10 years, because of animal cruelty charges like this one mentioned in Royal London. Read about,,, and many other real life stories which will explain these malicious human behaviors. If continued with animal abuse or animal obstructive abusive killings, we the people decree that the Royal money would be brought down, and so would terroristic Royals. God can punish whole-heartly with the unRoyal actions these princes would preform on hundreds of animals. I for one, will discontinue to support any of these boys maddnesses; unless they "STOP" the war-craft plan of animal triggering. Now evil minded Prince of Whales have just lost hundreds of thousands of great fans!( These great people were your next-door animal activist and strict vegan Facebook fans... Although it's never to late to make a big difference and win back your fans on Facebook by making good karma with animals on London news. A learned and learning lesson to all that wittness animal suffering... My prayers of God got out to these animals at the Windsor palace. So that the animals are to be protected in deep meditation, and also prayers for the Prince of Whales to have a change of heart. God bless every animal and every one that offers kind actions!!!! Awomen and "Amen!!!"

Join Republic and help to end this cruelty of tame men shooting tame birds for 'sport'. Monarchy is a sickness that permeates through our society. Time to call it a day.

They need to get out of the ancient "tradition" and update themselves.

Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 2011-09-19 16:51.

Just because it's tradition doesn't mean it's right. After Prince William's visit to Canada this year, I truly thought we had a new generation of royals........boy was I wrong! Shame on you!!

Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 2011-09-19 15:07.

just a prince whatsisname has a history of using someone elses helicopters to go to parties, is there any significance in RAF Wattisham being the nearest raf base to sandringham ? maybe he even flies in on his rescue helicopter, guns down a few birds and flies back to north wales ! at least when they had a royal yacht/train/bicycle you knew where they were !

Hunting for sport is bad enough but what these royal jerks are doing is just plain sick and shows no common sense or compassion for animals.

Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 2011-09-19 10:08.

These two are a disgrace and a very bad example, shooting and hunting is disgusting and should be banned, what the hell people get out of murdering innocent animals is beyond me, all I can say is these scum that murder animals in the name of sport are sick in the head and are no better than any terrorist. To celebrate a Birthday with a mass slaughter of birds is totally unnacceptable shame on you William and Harry your Mother would be ashamed of you.

Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 2011-09-19 09:48.

Here are a pair of spoilt, rich young men who could do so much good with their wealth and standing but they choose to indulge their tiny minds with killing innocent creatures for pleasure. What a terrible waste and how absolutely disgusting they both are. I hope they manage to 'accidentally' kill each other.

Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 2011-09-19 02:27.

This is very disappointing. Surely, the auspicious occasion of Prince Harry's birthday should not be marked with the killing of 250 sentient animals.

Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 2011-09-19 01:56.

Explain to me you so called sophisticated, educated, disciplined eggs of the Royals.
On one hand you claim to be waging a war against gun weilding terrorists, on the other you aim your things at the most docile voiceless beings Mum nature has given birth to!

Killing animals this way is terrorism of the worst kind.

Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 2011-09-19 15:00.

Great comment Anonymous. Also the shooting of birds is just the tip of the iceberg. Much amazing wildlife, such as foxes and birds of prey are killed in appalling ways by their gamekeepers because these awful people want to have as many birds as possible to blast out of the sky for so called sport.

How sad their lovely Mum would be if she could see how her boys had turned out.

Submitted by Anonymous on Sun, 2011-09-18 18:37.

How brutal! These men should be setting an example for us to follow by being kind and compassionate and NOT SHOOTING INNOCENT BIRDS!!!!

Submitted by Anonymous on Sun, 2011-09-18 17:57.

I don't give a damn how long they've been hunting for "sport," and I give even less of a damn if that's part of their culture. This is taking pleasure in the death of animals, and it's no less disgusting than those animal crush videos for fetishists. Very prince-like indeed to ignore the plight and pain of those who cannot speak.

Submitted by Anonymous on Sun, 2011-09-18 17:03.

So, he's in the military (kills people), he hunts (kills animals), and he's an alcoholic (kills self). Some "prince" he turned out to be. Royal people get away with everything just because of status.

I think I'll do some crack tomorrow, as well as kill a mouse and a pickpocket. I wonder where that lands me.

Oh yeah. Jail. Because I'm not fucking royalty.

Well said!!

All of those objecting to this behaviour by the younger royals should consider joining Republic. This is a pressure/campaign group which seeks, amongst other things, to promote discussion on whether we should continue to have an hereditary Head of State, i.e. Queen Elizabeth /Prince Philip, followed by King Charles/Queen Camilla followed by King William/Queen Kate OR whether we should move towards having some sort of elected President as many other countries do. After all, one does not go a dentist because his/her mother used to be a dentist or a brain surgeon because s/he is related to other brain surgeons. A growing number of people, presently estimated at at least 20% of the population, think our country too important to have whichever male heir (women are still marginalised under this system) happens to be born next in this one particular family as Head of State. We are on facebook. And I hate animal / bird slaughter and I am a vegetarian.

Submitted by Anonymous on Sun, 2011-09-18 12:11.

Just wondering, how many responders eat meat?

Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 2011-09-19 09:54.

It doesn't matter whether or not if they are vegetarian. The princes don't eat the foxes. They are killing them for no purpose but enjoyment and it is disgusting.

Submitted by Anonymous on Sun, 2011-09-18 09:35.

The taxpayers give this family money to represent the country and these ungrateful people thank us by going out on killing sprees! And giving away murder - what sort of present is that? They should be ashamed!

Taking lives of innocent animals aways because of birth of a human? how selfish, bloody, dirty and inhumane!!! shame on prince and all the people who murder the innocent animals. shame!!!

Submitted by Anonymous on Sat, 2011-09-17 21:31.

My opinion about them has gone to the lowest level of appreciation or to say it is at the level of disgust.

Submitted by Anonymous on Sat, 2011-09-17 20:00.

Its ironic that all the comments here screaming that William and Harry should be compassionate, don't show compassion in their rush to judgement of William and Harry. What is compassion?

Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 2011-09-19 22:58.

Hardly a rush to judgment. William and Harry both have been fanatical wildlife killers since they were in short pants, inducted into it by their sick father and grandparents - and, when they were younger, in utter defiance of their mother's wishes and regardless of her feelings. Unlike some kids who grow up with no good close role models to show them right from wrong, they had her. But they chose evil.

Killing weaker and more innocent beings is not a sign of nobility, sorry guys this is NOT COOL.

Submitted by Anonymous on Sat, 2011-09-17 18:09.

These psychos should be sent to a mad's house. Sadistic monsters that are a real threat to innocent animals and our planet. Another reason for monarchy to be abolished. What are we waiting for to send this scumbugs to the hell?

Submitted by Anonymous on Sat, 2011-09-17 17:54.

I always knew there was a reason those two creeped me out, along with the Father and "Royal" Queen. Any human who lives without compassion does not deserve to live with such privileges. Royalty should be reserved for beings who live in consciousness, not for these soulless actions. Obviously these two think the world adores them and they can get away with brutal murder.

Just how thick do you have to be to realise that slaughtering living creatures in this way is just plain WRONG? And we pay these people to stay in their position, doing what exactly?
