GARY BARLOW is to organise a star-studded charity show for the Royal Albert Hall in the run-up to Christmas.
Coldplay's Chris Martin and X Factor winner Leona Lewis are two of the early names said to be ready to perform at the Children in Need concert, which is likely to be put on a DVD in time for the festive season.
"Gary thought it would be a good idea if he could put his musical skills to their best use," a source told The Sun.
"He knows a lot of people and is widely respected, so putting together a star bill has been plain-sailing."
Take That singer/songwriter Barlow apparently decided to commit himself to charity work while sat on top of a mountain, Mount Kilmanjaro to be exact. He was part of a celebrity fund-raising trip to Africa's highest peak.
"Gary has really been bitten by the fund-raising bug," the source said. "He was amazed by people's generosity during his climb."
"As soon as he got off the mountain he made the decision to lend his support to more charities."
