Ken Loach’s last minute entry into this year’s Cannes Film Festival ‘Route Irish’ is the bookies favourite to scoop the Palme D’Or.

Paddy Power have installed Loach’s war drama about two ex-soldiers moving to Iraq to work as private contractors as their 3/1 favourite to win this years coveted award which will be announced on 23 May.

‘Babel’ director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu is the 4/1 second-favourite for his critically acclaimed Mexican drama ‘Biutiful’ and Mike Leigh is a 5/1 shot to add a second Palme D’Or to his trophy cabinet for his comedy drama ‘Another Year’ starring Jim Broadbent.
