Christmas 2011
Marylebone High Street Christmas Lighting (16 November 2011, 3.30pm to 6.30pm, Marylebone High Street): What better way to celebrate the season than with a Sicilian sausage sandwich and a glass of champers? Street performers and old-fashioned carols don't hurt, either.
Bond Street Christmas Lighting (17 November 2011, 5pm to 8pm, Bond Street): The lights will be switched on during 'Vendanges on Bond', an invitation only wine tasting and luxury shopping event. There will be street entertainment for visitors who just want to see the lights.
Trafalgar Square Christmas Tree (Lighting: 2 December 2010, 6pm, Trafalgar Square, London): Since 1947, Trafalgar Square is home to a giant Christmas tree, donated every year by Norway as a thank you for Britain's role in World War II.
Great Christmas Pudding Race (3 December 2011, 11am, Covent Garden Market, London): Teams racing around a course - carrying a Christmas pudding, naturally - will raise money for Cancer Research UK. It's not like puddings would come in better use if people actually ate them.
5k Santa Run 2011 (4 December 2011, Greenwich Park, London): 1000 of runners are expected to take part so why not claim your place today and be part of the Santa Run helping EJF and spreading Christmas cheer to millions of people around the world...
Traffic-free oxford street and regent street (10 and 11 December 2011, Oxford Street and Regent Street): The streets will be returned to shoppers in London's West End from Saturday 10 December 2011 for a traditional, magical West End Christmas celebration and traffic-free shopping weekend. For the first time ever, Oxford Street and Regent Street will be closed to traffic across the weekend to celebrate the American Express Shop West End VIP (Very Important Pedestrians) Weekend.
Santas on the Run (11 December 2011, Kingston): Hundreds of fat bearded men will race to raise money for Children's Hospices UK, which helps ill children and their families around the country. Staff will provide a hat and beard, if you wish.
Christmas Carol Singalong (15, 21 and 22 December 2011, Royal Albert Hall): Clap your hands, stamp your feet and sing your heart out as Jonathan Cohen invites you to join in with carols galore.
