The 59-year-old royal has backed a decision to cut ties between Cranswick Country Foods to and his Duchy Originals food company, much to the upset of the supplier.

Bernard Hogarth, chief executive of the company, told Britain’s Daily Express: “I am very disappointed, based on our commitment to Duchy for the past 12 years, that it has ended like this.”

The decision comes as part of a dramatic review of the company, which has sparked rumours the organisation plans to substantially cut it’s product range.

A picture of Prince Charles appears on the front of trade magazine The Grocer this month accompanied by a headline ‘Not So Charming’.

Chief executive of The Grocer Andrew Baker said: “Suppliers believe Duchy is planning to slash the range of products it offers as part of a wider strategic review of the business implemented by new management.”

A spokesperson for Duchy Originals has denied rumours they are slashing their range.

They said: “We are reworking out product range and will be announcing changes to the range shortly. But it is not true to say we’re diminishing it.”

A spokesperson at Charles’ London residence Clarence House refused to comment.
