A bio-pic of controversial Soho porn merchant Paul Raymond, played by Coogan,The Look of Love also stars a crop of other British stars such as Anna Friel, Stephen Fry, Matt Lucas and David Walliams.

Other highlights of the festival are a live performance from Peaches, whose debut as a film director comes in Peaches Does Herself, an electro-rock opera in which the singer goes on a journey of self-discovery, and Running From Crazy, a movie about mental illness in the Hemingway family.

Sundance is an off-shoot of the long-running independent film festival held in Utah. London’s version started last year and, as in 2012, this time around Sundance founder Robert Redford will be in attendance.

“Our philosophy is to give a representation of not just the programme we did in Sundance Utah, but also a representation of what is happening in the independent film scene in America,” said Sundance festival director John Cooper.
