DUFFY scored a hat trick of BRITS at last night’s Earls Court ceremony.

The Welsh singer won Best British Female, Best British Breakthrough Act and the prestigious Best British Album for her debut Rockferry.

Other winners included Elbow for Best British Group and Kings of Leon for Best International Group and Album. Girls Aloud won their first BRIT for Best Single with The Promise. “It’s about time” said singer Sarah Harding.

The biggest surprise was the lack of success for Coldplay. The prog-rockers had been nominated for four awards but walked away BRITless. Maybe it was a punishment for their dire performance during the show.

The night ended with an artful medley from The Pet Shop Boys, who had earlier been awarded the Outstanding Contribution To Music gong.
