Notting Hill, made famous by Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts inthat film, is one of the most popular and expensive districts in London.

Half-a-century ago, Notting Hill was a rather rundown district of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. Now it is home to some of the capital’s richest people, be they bankers or actors and boasts a wealth of cool boutiques, restaurants and bars to match.
Luckily much of the bohemian chic survives thanks in part to the hustle and bustle of the Portobello Road Market which weaves its way through the heart of Notting Hill. During the bank holiday at the end of August each year, Portobello Road, Ladbroke Grove and the surrounding area are taken over by Europe’s largest street celebration; the Notting Hill Carnival. Floats, stalls and a million people mingle in a blur of Caribbean beats.
As if all that isn’t enough, the area is well-served by London Underground with Notting Hill Gate, Ladbroke Grove and Westbourne Park tube stations ensuring transit to other central areas is easily achieved.
