Indiana high school student Emma Nolan wants to attend prom with her girlfriend Alyssa. Progressive principal Tom Hawkins is supportive of an inclusive event but Mrs Greene, influential head of the PTA, stirs up a hornet's nest of protest, which results in prom being cancelled. New York stage stars Dee Dee Allen and Barry Glickman learn about Emma's predicament. They travel to Indiana to advocate for equality accompanied by chorus girl Angie Dickinson and jobbing actor Trent Oliver.
