Alexey Markov sings the title role of Mario Martone's staging of Tchaikovsky, recorded live from the historic Teatro alla Scala opera house in Milan under the baton of conductor Timur Zangiev. Aristocrat Onegin is invited to dinner by his neighbours, where he meets sisters Olga and Tatiana. The latter sibling is clearly smitten and writes a gushing love letter to Onegin after their first meeting, declaring her true love. He rejects Tatiana and she descends into a mire of despair.
