Marie is happily married to French scientist Pierre Curie and the couple works closely on the study of uranium rays. In 1906, when Pierre is killed in a road accident, a grieving Marie continues their work and she makes bold new discoveries, aided by married colleague Paul Langevin, who becomes her lover. The subsequent furore threatens to overshadow Marie’s tireless work in the rarefied world of radium research.
