In 1988, gold prospector Kenny Wells presides over the faltering family business - Washoe Mining Corporation - in Reno, Nevada. One alcohol-fuelled night, he has a vivid dream about Indonesia and, on a whim, Kenny pawns his girlfriend's watch to fly east, where he hopes to persuade geologist Michael Acosta to join him on a madcap quest into the jungle. Kenny invests every last cent to drill core samples and send them down river for analysis in the hope that gold lurks beneath the jungle canopy.

Supported by his loving wife Monobina, Tapan resolves to guide the national team to glory on the international stage, regardless of the personal costs. This gruelling journey takes India to the 1948 Olympic Games held in London, where India will have to face the proud home nation.
