A mad scientist breeds a new species of genetically altered bat which escapes from his lab and begins infecting the local bat population. Disease control expert Dr Sheila Casper senses that the sleepy town of Gallup, Texas (population 7,000 and dropping fast) is on the verge of a major disaster and recommends immediate evacuation. Her advice is ignored, so she and the local sheriff elect to stop the super-aggressive critters themselves.
