Born and raised in Kaylan, Anandibai Joshi marries at an early age and moves to Calcutta with her forward-thinking husband Gopalrao. With his blessing, she defies convention to study medicine at the Woman’s Medical College in Pennsylvania and returns to India to share her knowledge with a posting at the Albert Edward Hospital.
